What are you experience with the gluten free menu, specifically at Chef Mickey's, The Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom? We will be traveling there in February with an adult and kids that are newly diagnosed Celiacs. Thanks for the help!

    Hi Michelle,

Hooray for a vacation at the Walt Disney World Resort! Your trip is just around the corner and you must be excited. My daughter has a shellfish allergy and my nephew has a dairy, egg and nut allergy. Neither one has had an issue dining anywhere in Walt Disney World. There are many gluten-free options that you should be able to eat a variety of meals.

First, you want to reach out to Disney Dining at 407-WDW-DINE and make sure you note a gluten allergy for your Advance Dining Reservations. This will give the restaurant a heads up that you will need to speak to a chef. Next, you will just want to remind your server there is an allergy and then the chef will come to your table. The chef will take you around the buffet at Chef Mickey's and tell you what you can and cannot eat. They will then ask if there is anything else you would like and prepare it for you.

For items off of the menu, chef will ask you what you would like to eat. They can advise you if it is safe or if they need to make a modification. In addition, they can create something similar for you to eat.

Finally, when you are at a quick service restaurant, ask the cast member who is taking your order that you need a gluten-free menu. They will provide this menu and then have a specially trained cast member take your order.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, you can email the cast members at Special Diets at Special.Diets@Disneyworld.com and they can provide you additional information about your dining options. You will want to do this about 14 days prior to your arrival.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
