What should we expect when it comes to crowds in Galaxy's Edge? It will only be about a month old when we visit, but should we expect a ton of people, even for the time of year? What has been the experience with other new attractions?

It's great to see you here today at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Hannah!

You've definitely come to us with the million-dollar question today because I think we'd all like to be able to gaze into the future and have a look at what we can expect when it comes to crowds and attendance when Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opens later this month at Disney's Hollywood Studios. This new land will be the largest and most technologically-advanced expansion ever opened at any Disney theme park, so I bet it will be pretty popular with guests for some time to come.

I think that your suggestion of looking at the openings of some of the most recent additions to Walt Disney World Resort is probably the best way for us to predict what we can expect for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. The most recent openings of new lands have been Toy Story Land, also at Disney's Hollywood Studios, which opened in the summer of last year, and Pandora - The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom, which opened in the spring of 2017. At their respective theme parks, both of these lands are still the most popular place that guests want to go and the attractions in each of those lands are the ones that usually have the longest standby wait times, and they are often the first attractions to get all their FastPass+ times booked up. One of the newest attractions at Magic Kingdom Park, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, is still just as popular as it was when it opened more than five years ago, so I think the trend that we can find is that the newest, most advanced and exciting attractions are the ones that are going to draw the biggest crowds.

To sum it all up, Hannah, if I were betting on it I would say that Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is going to be pretty busy for the foreseeable future. I think that the attractions, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, which opens with the land on August 29, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, which will be opening on December 5 of this year, will probably be the hottest-ticket attractions at Disney's Hollywood Studios, along with Slinky Dog Dash in Toy Story Land which is also pretty new. To try to beat the crowds, I recommend taking advantage of the special "Extra" Extra Magic Hours available to Walt Disney World Resort Hotel guests between September 1 and November 2! You'll be able to jet off to the planet Batuu before other guests are allowed to enter for the day, as early as 6 a.m. If you start early, you can tour Black Spire Outpost before the theme park opens for the day at 9 a.m.

    Have a magical day, Hannah!
