So excited to take my 9 and 5 years old girls for the first time. We're going 2nd week of September and I thought this was a perfect time but now I'm a little worried the crowd is going to be bad. What do you recommend ? And any tips for first timers. Thanks

    Hi Evelyn,

I'm sure your daughters are really excited for their first visit to Walt Disney World! If they're like me, the days leading up to their vacation will feel like they're going by soooo slow.

To answer your first question...while the theme parks won't be empty, the crowd levels will certainly be a lot less than you would otherwise experience during major holidays or school breaks.

As for your second question, I'd definitely love to share a few tips for first-timers:

    #1 - Avoid sneak peeks.

So many guests have gone onto that huge website (I can't say the name, but it starts with "You" and ends with "Tube") and posted videos of the attractions and shows at Walt Disney World. Videos don't do justice to these experiences!

    #2 - Set reasonable expectations.

While there are so many awesome things to experience at Walt Disney World, it's impossible to do everything. Have everyone (you included!) pick 2-3 must-do's for each day. That way, once the must-do's have been accounted for, you can feel free to explore at a leisurely pace for the rest of each day.

    #3 - Budget relaxation time.

The biggest complaint I hear from friends is that they need a "vacation from their Disney vacation." We always build time in our day for either a power nap back at the hotel, time at the pool, or some other relaxing activity.

Here's a bonus tip from your buddy Derek:

    Buy lots of souvenirs!

Hear me out for a second...souvenirs that I can place on my desk or keep within an arm's reach serve as an anchor to wonderful memories. When I get stressed, I lean on those anchors for a reminder of the things that are most important to me.

I hope that helps! If you should have any other questions, please feel free to write back and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
