We're excited to start planning our first trip to Walt Disney World *with kids* for early next year! What's a good planning timeline? I was disappointed to see Disney online only shows resort info through the rest of the year :/ Thanks in advance!!

    Hi Audrey,

How exciting to be planning your first Walt Disney World trip with children!  One of the first steps that I suggest for guests planning their first Walt Disney World trip is to order the Walt Disney World planning DVD. This is available free, and can help you start to consider all of the fun and options that there are at Walt Disney World.

While you can only see to the end of the calendar year online currently, you can book a Walt Disney World resort hotel stay up to 499 days in advance. The best way to do this is by calling Disney at 407-W-DISNEY (407-934-7639). I suggest that you peruse the website I linked with Walt Disney World resort hotels, and then give Disney a call to book your resort room.

You will need to set up a My Disney Experience account if you do not yet have one. This will allow you to keep track of your resort reservation, dining reservations, Disney FastPass+ selections, and much more. I suggest that you go set this account up now so that you have it when you begin to make these plans.

After this, you have a little while before your next steps. At 180 days before your check-in date, you will be able to make Disney Dining reservations. Assuming that you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort, at 60 days before you check in, you will be able to make Disney FastPass+ selections. You would be able to make Disney FastPass+ selections 30 days before your visit if you are not staying at a Walt Disney World resort.

I hope that this helps you get started with your planning, Audrey. Please let us know if you have any further questions!
