Hi we are excited to be planning a trip in march 2016. We have2 children with food allergies. Egg, Peanut are our anaphylaxis and also strawberry and cherry. How do we do our research before we get there. To see if it is possible to eat there?

    Hi Shanna!

I am so happy to help you prepare for your trip to Walt Disney World Resort! As an allergy parent myself, I know how important it is to research restaurants in advance so I can be sure my son can eat there safely. In my experience, the Chefs and Cast Members at Walt Disney World Resort restaurants have done a fantastic job of making sure my son has safe and tasty meals during our trips. I think a great place to start your research is with the Special Diets Team. This is a group of Cast Members who can help you with questions about accommodating your children's specific allergies at specific restaurants throughout the property. As your children have both multiple allergies and allergies that are outside of the "top 8" common allergens, you should email them at Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com at least 14 days prior to your trip with your dining reservation information so they can help you prepare for your trip.

I like to use the Walt Disney World Resort section of allergyeats.com to help me get a first idea about restaurants we may be interested in, especially for quick service locations. We have had fantastic meals at both table service and quick service locations. At table service restaurants, we have found that Chefs have gone above and beyond to make sure my son has a fantastic meal. Chef Matt at Chef Mickey's made my son incredible plates of whatever food he asked for and brought him a special dessert that was safe too! For quick service locations, you will need to notify the Cast Member when you order that you are accommodating an allergy. I like to speak with a manager or Chef to ensure I pick a safe option. Options here can often be more limited, but I have talked with the Chefs at many restaurants to find yummy and safe options for my little guy!

Please let me know if you have more questions! T-T-F-N, ta ta for now!
