Hi! So family and I are scheduled to come to WDW this September! Just booked rooms at POR but have heard that POFQ might be better for my 2yo and 1yo. We've never been to any resort on the property so which is better suited for our family?

Jennifer, I have to start by telling you that I'm partial to Port Orleans Riverside; it's my favorite moderate resort!

Perhaps the reason you've heard that the French Quarter may be better suited to your children is because the theming there is larger than life.  The vibrant Mardi Gras masks, beads, and decor in the food court area certainly capture a child's attention.  There is also a very fanciful serpent slide at the main pool of the French Quarter.  And the fact that the French Quarter is about half the size of Riverside might be a plus for those traveling with little ones.  I've been to the French Quarter and I do agree that it's a charming and festive resort.

Riverside has my heart though.  The grounds there are absolutely gorgeous with giant trees and beautiful foliage everywhere you look.  My son was thirteen months old when we last stayed there and he loved watching the ducks every morning as we walked to and from the main lobby/ food court area.  While the theming isn't as colorful at Riverside as it is at French Quarter, it is very charming and serene.  My kids enjoyed strolling along the Sassagoula River and had a blast at the themed pool.

I guess you just need to decide which atmosphere your kids might enjoy more and make your decision from there.  Whichever you choose though, rest assured that both resorts are very close in proximity, well within walking distance.  Once you get there you can just walk along the Sassagoula to visit the other resort and see the sights.  Your family is sure to have a fantastic trip whichever you choose!
