What exactly is an auxiliary entrance? My granddaughter is in a wheelchair but can wait in line until just before boarding. I wanted to know how the auxiliary entrance worked. She really can't be rushed to board as she has braces and slower than most.. TIA

    Welcome back, Terry!

I'm happy to answer another question for you. Your vacation will be here before you know it, and you and your granddaughter will be creating magical memories together!

The Walt Disney World Resort strives to make the resort as accessible as possible for all Guests. We have found that our special needs son can easily access attractions. Many queues have been reimagined to provide a better interactive experience for all Guests, including those who tour the parks in wheelchairs and ECVs. So if your granddaughter needs to remain in her wheelchair while in the queue, that is permitted.

Sometimes attractions have auxiliary entrances for Guests. This has happened several times to us. A few times at Pirates of the Caribbean, Cast Members have directed our family to a back entrance. Keep in mind that most queues can accommodate limited mobility devices, but sometimes auxiliary entrances are used and be assured a Cast Member will provide directions and assistance.

Since it often takes our family a little longer to load an attraction vehicle than most Guests, we appreciate that there are attractions that offer an auxiliary loading area. For example, Toy Story Midway Mania provides an alternate loading area for Guests needing extra time to board. I love that we can focus on helping our son board the vehicle, and not feel rushed.

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel again! I just know your vacation will have many pixie-dusted memories.
