Hi everyone. Im coming to disneyworld on friday for a week. And looking at the weather its practically raining every day :-( how long do thunderstorms generally last and any tips you could give me? I really wanted to see all the shows /rides. Thanks x

    Hi Jess!

This is the second question tonight I've answered about rain at Walt Disney World!  And, I'm going to tell you the same thing I told the last person:  Our family motto at Disney, and anywhere else for that matter is, "Rain is NOT a factor!!!"

Central Florida, which enjoys a sub-tropical climate, is known for rain showers almost every day in spring/summer, and usually these showers last only long enough to cool things off and cause the crowds to lighten a little bit - a bonus on those hot, crowded Disney days!

However, sometimes you'll find a day, or even a few days, when Florida is experiencing their "rainy season".  The great thing about Disney is that it is enjoyable even in the rain!  As long as there is no lightning/electrical storm, then most attractions remain operational - though keep in mind they are subject to closing due to inclement weather.  But if it's not too bad, our family simply pulls out the ponchos and rain gear and forges ahead!  On with the show!

Some tips:  Take a light jacket or cardigan with you on rainy days, because it can tend to get a little chilly inside air-conditioned attractions when you are a little wet to begin with; wear water-proof shoes/sandals; take a change of clothes for the little ones, who may get a bit fussy when wet/chilly; carry a couple of plastic bags/baggies with you to store wet items, protect electronic gear, or use to cover a wet seat; wear a visor or baseball hat you don't mind getting wet under your poncho hood, which will help to keep the rain off your face and out of your eyes.

Finally, keep your sense of humor intact, and enjoy the lighter crowds on those rainy days in Disney!  You'll find the magic and Pixie Dust are still plentiful, even in a storm!
