Hi All! Have you every been to Dine with an Animal Specialist at Sanaa or Wanyama Safari? i want to do something special for my fiance on our honeymoon and he loves food and animals! I would love to know your opinions! Thanks!

Hi Tracey! I too am a lover of animal experiences at Disney. I think I have taken just about every tour and opportunity offered at the Animal Kingdom and the resort.

The Wanyama Safari Resort Tour is wonderful but understand that it is only offered to Animal Kingdom resort guests. This fills quickly so like all tours get your reservation as soon as you decide. Each tour is limited to 12 guests so you will get a very personal tour and the ability to ask many questions of your guide. You tour in a safari type vehicle and ride among the 46 acres of savanna to see various animals.

One of my favorite things to do is the new Wild Africa Trek which is a tour that takes place inside the Animal Kingdom. You will walk the first part to places no other guests can venture and at one point will walk across a rope bridge over the crocodiles! Then you will get into a safari vehicle to ride throughout the park to get very close to the many breeds that make this area home. The beauty is that your vehicle does not have to continue on as the others do. If you find animals you can sit and observe them for as long as you wish. Then you head to a fabulous out building where you will feast on either a breakfast or lunch while watching the animals watch you!

My second favorite tour is the Backstage Safari. This is an amazing chance to see the back stage homes of many of the animals such as the giraffes and elephants and rhinos.  Have you ever seen the long eyelashes of a giraffe? At each stop there is an expert to answer all your questions. The most interesting stop was the animal kitchen where they explain what each breed eats and the amounts of food they need each day. There is usually a visit by a friendly creature at some point in the tour as well.

I have not dined with an Animal Specialist but anything where you have the opportunity to talk about animals as well as see them will be a spectacular gift to your new husband!
