Can you estimate travel times from Animal Kingdom Lodge to Magic Kingdom, Hollywood and Downtown Disney. Are there mixed travel options like boat to make these commute times more pleasurable for my 2 1/2 year old boy? Thanks!

Hi Eric! You're going to love the Animal Kingdom Lodge! It's one of my favorite resorts at Walt Disney World -- no matter how many times I stay there, I'm always amazed at the fact that I can watch giraffes and zebras grazing on a savanna from my hotel room balcony!

Some resorts at Disney have multiple transportation options such as boat, monorail, and bus. At the Animal Kingdom Lodge, however, the bus is your only transportation method (other than driving or taking a cab). The bus rides from the Animal Kingdom Lodge to the Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Downtown Disney each take about 20 minutes. You may have to wait 15 minutes for a bus to pick you up.The bus ride may sound long, but honestly the wait for the bus often feels longer than the ride.

When my kids were the age of yours, they were excited about riding on the big bus and not having to be restrained in car seats, so you may find that your son finds the ride quite entertaining. You could always bring a small toy or some stickers to occupy him on the bus if needed, but I bet that he will end up amusing himself by looking at the other passengers and the sights outside the window. If all else fails, pull out a park map and let him show you the attractions he wants to take in that day or point out the spots that were his favorites in the park you just visited.

Hope you have a magical vacation! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! We'd love to  help!
