Erin, next spring, we'll stay only a few nights. We want shortest "commute" to MK and to get to Epcot easily. Theming's not high priority for me, DH & DD5. Would love onsite kids center. Poly & GF not in our budget. What do you think - WL

It sounds like based on your criteria, the Wilderness Lodge would be a great choice for you.

Once you eliminate the hotels on the monorail line (Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian) then your next shortest trip to the Magic Kingdom would be from the Wilderness Lodge, as you suggested. There is a boat from the WL that will take you right to the Magic Kingdom. The trip takes less than 15 minutes and is relaxing and pleasant, plus there is no need to fold a stroller to get it on the boat. There are also boats that will take you to the Contemporary (Chef Mickey's!) and Fort Wilderness (Hoop Dee Doo). As for getting to Epcot, there is a bus that will take you directly from the WL to Epcot. Or, you could take the boat to the MK and hop on the monorail to Epcot. This might take a few minutes more, but could add to the ambiance of your trip.

There is an on-site childcare center at the WIlderness Lodge, called the Cubs Den. I have left my daughters here several times and was impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. For current pricing, hours, and reservations for the Cubs Den, you can call Disney Dining at 407-WDW-DINE. I do suggest making advance reservations if you'd like to use this service.

Other great features of the Wilderness Lodge include the lovely pool, GREAT restaurants (two of my all-time Disney favorites), and waterfront recreation. We've rented the SeaRaycers here several times. With these boats you can drive all around the waterways in the Magic Kingdom areas. So interesting to see the park and resorts from another vantage point!

The next closest option would be a cabin at Fort Wilderness, but the transportation to the MK could be longer depending on where your cabin is located, and there is no on-site childcare.
