Hi Erin! Hoping you could offer a few sugg. on where we might grab a quick bite (outside the parks, maybe at a resort?) before heading over to Poly to catch our Wishes boat tour. Looking for something fun with good food. Will have car; staying at SS. Thnx!

When you say "quick bite" I'm not sure if you mean that you want a counter-service meal. If so, all the resorts in the Magic Kingdom area do have counter service dining. There is Grab and Go at the Contemporary, Gasparilla Grill at the Grand Floridian, and Captain Cook's at the Polynesian. These are all fine places to grab some basic grub, but I wouldn't say that any of them are particularly fun or offer exceptionally good food.

If you want to have a fun and yummy table service meal in the Magic Kingdom area, I do have some ideas for you. My top suggestion would be the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge. This is less than a five minute drive from the Polynesian (or you could take a boat to the Magic Kingdom and transfer to the monorail). The WCC has a Wild West theme with lots of jokes, signature gags, and general zaniness. As an example of the kind of thing you might expect ... My hubby the Diet Coke addict once asked our server there for a "very large Diet Coke." Well, let's just say that the soda that arrived at our table could easily served as a swimming pool for a medium-sized toddler. You can also expect at least one hobby-horse race throughout the dining room at every meal. While there are some lighter and vegetarian options, the signature dish at the WCC is a big skillet of BBQ chicken, ribs, and sausage. Mmmm.

Another great place for dinner is Ohana at the Polynesian. There are some tables by the window with a view of the castle. The food here is primarily skewers of grilled seafood and meat, accompanied by veggies and fresh bread.

Hope this gives you some ideas.
