Hi, Erin: I have found your answers very informative. RE: Animal Kingdom Lodge - do you find it is a quieter place of lodging than Wilderness Lodge, and if so, is it worth the trouble of the added transportation? We have a 4 yo and a 14 yo.

I have stayed at both the Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge multiple times. I have never had an issue with noise at either location. I have found both to be very quiet.

At any Disney hotel (or any hotel in general), if quiet is a priority for you, there are steps you can take to increase your odds of peace. You can request to be in a quieter location in the building. Generally this means on an upper floor, away from the elevator. A room at the end of a hallway requires a bit more walking, but it will most often be more quiet, as there are fewer people walking past your door. Similarly, while many guests enjoy having a view of a pool, the pool view rooms might be slightly noisier with the increased possibility of hearing guests splashing around.

The only possible difference in noise between the two hotels you mention might be from the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. At the Wilderness Lodge, you will hear some muffled noise during the evening show of Wishes. You will be unlikely to hear this at the AKL. Personally, I like hearing the fireworks in the background. But if this is a potential problem for you, then the Animal Kingdom Lodge might be a better choice.
