What is the easiest way to put money on my daughters Disney band? She is there for a week and I would like to surprise her.

    Hi Linda,

I love your idea, but unfortunately there isn't really any way to make it happen.

When you use a MagicBand to pay for items, the money isn't really "on the band." The band functions as a conduit to a credit or debit card. The authorization for this must be signed for in person during check-in.

There are a few work-arounds you may want to think about.

If you want to surprise your daughter, you could have a gift sent to her room. DisneyFlorist.com has a number of floral and gift basket items that could be delivered during her vacation.

You could give her a loaded Disney Gift Card. (This is probably the option I would choose.) Gift cards are available for purchase at Disney Stores, online, and a numerous locations like supermarkets and Target. You could specify the exact amount you want to gift. She can use the Gift Card as a payment method for almost everything during her trip (food, merchandise, etc.)

You could also arrange to pre-pay for a meal at a particular restaurant. For example, my daughter and some friends visited Walt Disney World on their own for their high school graduation trip. We treated them to a celebratory meal at Victoria and Albert's in the Grand Floridian. We called the restaurant directly and gave them my credit card number, authorizing payment and tipping up to a specified amount. The girls never saw the bill at the end of the meal because it had already been taken care of. If you want to do something like this you'd have to contact a restaurant directly.
