    Hi Trina!

If you ask me, it's never too early to plan a Walt Disney World vacation!

I've got a lot of experience in traveling with toddlers/preschoolers, so I think I can help with you with the decision on whether to go with a group. Speaking from personal experience, I'll say that having some extra help with your son will probably be very nice to have.

I've taken Disney vacations with friends and extended family members, so if you decide to go that route, my advice would be to allow for blocks of "alone time" during the day. In other words, immediate family members should stick together as much as possible, but it helps to let friends and extended family members have time to do what they like during the day. For example, you might gather for breakfast and head out to the same theme park, but then decided to split up for a few hours before meeting back together for lunch.

Even though we have the same haircut, I'm no Dr. Phil. However, I know that a little breathing room is very helpful when traveling with a group of people.

As for budgeting, I would absolutely recommend staying in one of Disney's resort hotels. I have an accounting background, so I know how to crunch numbers. Trust me on this one, they'll give you the best value and bang for your buck. Plus, you can easily budget your hotel costs, admission tickets, and even food budgets (with the Disney Dining Plans) by visiting DisneyWorld.com.

The only other variables would be travel costs and spending money. Travel costs are easy to gather, but spending money is a little harder. The best advice I can give is to anticipate an amount you think is "reasonable," then add an extra cushion in case you see something special that you and your son would cherish when you see it in your home.

I hope that helps! If you have any other questions, please feel free to send them my way!

    Best regards,
    Derek
