We are in the early stages of planning a first DL trip for DS5. Hotels options are PP vs DLH. Curious for your thoughts regarding each on price, location, access to parks and DD, pros/cons, etc. Thanks as always for answering my questions!

    Hi, John!

I’m thrilled that you’re planning your son’s first trip to the Disneyland Resort! One of the greatest joys for me as a mom and a Disney fan is to see the theme parks through my little boy’s eyes. It’s going to be a magical vacation for all of you!

I’ve stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier Hotel multiple times, and each has its own unique benefits. Paradise Pier Hotel is typically the least expensive and the rooms feature beach-inspired decor. My son had great fun with the beach ball-shaped pillows! Rooms at the Disneyland Hotel are quite large for standard accommodations and have been recently renovated to include chic, modern furnishings with a touch of Disney magic, including wooden headboards featuring fiber-optic fireworks for an in-room light and music show!

Both hotels are a short walk to the parks, although the Disneyland Hotel is closer to the Downtown Disney District and Disneyland Park. Paradise Pier Hotel is closer to Disney California Adventure Park, particularly when using the private park entrance for Disneyland Resort Hotel Guests, which is accessible from Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Since this is your son’s first trip, I think the enchanting atmosphere and great amenities of the Disneyland Hotel would be a great choice, and he will love the monorail-themed water slide and pool. I recommend requesting a room in the Adventure Tower, which is the closest to the theme parks.

No matter which one you pick, you’ll be entitled to Extra Magic Hours, and you’ll never have to leave the excitement that Disney creates during your stay! Please write back with any other questions you may have as you plan your pixie-dusted vacation, John!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
