Kids being silly on Main Street

Is there an early rope drop on the days with morning EMH? Is it good to show up early on the morning EMH days, or just stick to right on time?

Thanks for returning to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Haley! Extra Magic Hours are a great way to pack more fun into your mornings. And with my kids waking up early for the fun, it’s easy to get there and jump right in.

As an example, when my family is headed to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Epcot or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, with Extra Magic Hours at 8am, we will typically arrive to pass through security at 7:30am. This allows us to mix in with the crowd and wait for entry right at 8am. Some folks will stand in line up to an hour at rope drop to make their favorite attractions first! (this is particularly handy if you don't have a FastPass+ for your favorite ride). If we are headed to Magic Kingdom, it’s more of a layered process. Let’s pretend Extra Magic Hours start at 8am and the park opens to regular guests at 9am. Our family can access Main Street U.S.A. up to an hour before Extra Magic Hours begin (or on a regular day, when the park opens), so on this day, we will show up at 7:30am to pass through security and touch points, and experience Main Street, U.S.A. before Extra Magic Hours begin. About ten minutes before 8am, you’ll gather around the Cinderella Forecourt Stage, and watch the short Let the Magic Begin Welcome Show. Then, we will walk right into Magician Mickey Mouse, the Harmony Barbershop, or onto our favorite coaster, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

That all being said, if you don’t want to battle the crowds, feel free to show up at 8am, and walk right in. You’ll still be able to experience the low crowd volume of Extra Magic Hours and the cool morning, but you may miss the Welcome Show. Put your feelers out for your family and see how they are rolling on any given morning, and enjoy the moment! ~ Lindsey P.
