We are going to DW in November for my daughters golden birthday, she will be 7. I have never been there before and was wondering if there are any birthday activities or things we should do to make sure that she gets the most magical birthday experience.

    Hi Ashley,

How wonderful to head down to Walt Disney World for the first time, and for your daughter's birthday! We also celebrated my daughter's 7th birthday at Walt Disney World. Let me share some things that we did to make this a birthday to remember.

First, do pick up a "Happy Birthday" button for your daughter. These are available free of charge at Guest Relations at any Walt Disney World theme park, as well as at many other locations throughout Walt Disney World. It is so much fun to hear cast members and other guests alike wishing your little one a happy birthday all day! When wearing a birthday button, my daughter received a huge cupcake after her meal at The Plaza Restaurant at Magic Kingdom! While extra surprises like this are not guaranteed, you never know when a little extra pixie dust might be sprinkled on your birthday girl's day.

I am also a big fan of letting a birthday child help to plan their birthday activities. This makes them feel so special, as generally children do not get to be in charge. Since you mention that it is your first trip to Walt Disney World, I suggest that you watch the Walt Disney World planning video. You can watch it with your daughter and find out which theme parks and attractions are the most appealing to her, and then plan activities for her birthday that she identified as favorites.

Finally, if you want to get your little one a magical gift, check out Disney Floral and Gifts. They have many gifts for birthdays, and you can even work with a Magic Maker there to customize a gift for your daughter. My daughter loved the Minnie Mouse plush animal and balloons that we had delivered to our Walt Disney World resort on her birthday.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Ashley. Please do write back if you have any further questions!
