We are DVC members. we are visiting WDW in June with our 8 year old granddaughter who is very interested in animation. In fact she hopes to one becoming a Disney Animator. Besides the Disney Studio Tour are there any other tours or things we can arrange.

    Hi Carmen!

Sounds like you have a budding animator in the family! What better place to encourage that dream than at Walt Disney World.

Your first idea is a good one. Take her to visit The Magic of Disney Animation attraction in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Together you can watch the short film on how animators develop characters, then practice her skills at the Animation Studio where an animator teaches you how to draw a Disney character.
Also at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you may enjoy a walk through Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream. This multimedia exhibit and film profile the history of Walt Disney and his dream to bring magic to kids young and old.

For a more in-depth experience, you may be able to enroll your granddaughter in one of Disney’s Youth Education Series classes. Individual registration is offered for select classes and dates. Depending on your vacation dates, the “Exploring Disney Animation History” program may be available.

While I know you mentioned your granddaughter would like to be an animator, would she find it interesting to learn about Disney Imagineering? Did you know that you can Dine with an Imagineer? Offered at the Hollywood Brown Derby on select days, guests can enjoy one of the best meals at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, while enjoying a fascinating lunchtime chat with a Disney Imagineer. This experience is generally recommended for ages 14 and up, but perhaps something to look forward to for a future trip.

I hope one or more of these ideas will add an extra spark of magic to your granddaughter's upcoming vacation, and I wish her luck in following her dream!
