We are DVC and frequent visitors of WDW in FL. In January are are taking our soon to be 18 year old special needs son to DL for his first visit and birthday for a 4 day stay. Can you explain how the dining plan works there? Thanks!

January is a great time to visit the Disneyland Resort. While there you must check out Radiator Springs Racers in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure. This is the ultimate Disney driving experience! All of the attractions on Route 66 are so well done and so much fun, you will be charmed and amazed at this all new land at the Happiest Place on Earth. As locals we do not use the Disney Dining Plan. We usually use our annual passes to receive the discount and leave it at that. The dining plan is not as commonly used at the Disneyland Resort. I will tell you a few of my favorite spots for a bite. I usually start with a great early brunch at Storyteller's Cafe' in the Grand Californian Hotel. The fresh baked bread is so delicious! Another great spot in the parks for a meal Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante. This quick service restaurant is beautiful and serves really solid classic Mexican cuisine on a beautiful bougainvillea-shaded hacienda patio. Exotic painted tiles, flowing fountains and stunning Mexican glass lanterns adorn the peaceful oasis. Sit back relax at this quick-service, fiesta-style restaurant. Finally, for a great dessert head back over to California Adventure for some decadent ice cream and chocolate at a piece of California history at Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop. While enjoying your dessert check out the walls behind the counter. Pretty cool stuff! I hope this assists you and I cannot wait to see you at the parks.
