During our upcoming Disney trip we plan on taking our 5 year old daughter to the bibbidy bobbidy boutique and a few character (particularly princess) dining experiences. What kind of "special" things are available for a 10 year old boy?

    Hi, Angie!

    What a great question!

I have 1 princess and 1 prince, so I know what it's like to try to keep each one happy while on a family vacation.

Take a look at The Pirates League, which may be a great counterpart to your daughter's experience at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. On a recent visit to WDW when my son had just turned 11, we went on a fantastic Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage; it was fun for the entire family. Last spring, my  son and I tried Sammy Duvall's - Parasailing, which was just amazing! (Flyers can join in the fun as long as they are 6 years of age and up.)

In September, my son and I ventured onto Wild Africa Trek, which was truly one of our favorite Walt Disney World experiences of all time. Guests must be 8 to trek, so you'll be able to have one parent take your son on this most special journey while your princess is otherwise occupied. Learning about all of the research which goes on at Animal Kingdom (from animal experts themselves) as well as getting a much closer look at so many animals was really amazing.

In addition, consider a visit to Downtown Disney's RIDEMAKERZ where your son can create and purchase  his own remote-controlled vehicle or, of course, spend some time at the LEGO Imagination Center. Both are sure to be highlights of your son's trip.

Send more questions as you plan your upcoming trip to WDW; I love to help!
