Hello! During my trip to Walt Disney World, there will be some time when I will be away from my breastfeeding baby. Is it OK to pump with a manual breast pump in the parks/in line for a ride if I am covered? Are there places to use an electric pump?

    Hi, there!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Catherine. I'm so glad you stopped by!

This mama of three completely relates to your question. I went to the Walt Disney World Resort without my breastfeeding baby two years ago which meant I went with my pump!

You'll be pleased to know that you're most welcome to pump if there are times you're away from your baby. I preferred to take my manual pump to the theme parks with me as it was much less cumbersome than my electric pump, but you're permitted to enter with any pump you choose. I didn't want to miss out on any magical experiences, so you can bet I maximized my time while pumping! I would slip away to pump while my group was waiting for a meal in a restaurant or while we were en route from one destination to another using a nursing cover.

If you'd like to pump somewhere that has an outlet for your electric pump, head to one of the conveniently located Baby Care Centers. There you'll find a quiet nursing room that can accommodate your electric pump. The Baby Care Centers also have a sink and microwave for cleaning and sanitizing your pump parts.

I made the decision during that particular stay to "pump and dump" my milk (criminal, I know!), but storing your milk for your baby is pretty easy. If you'd like to keep the milk that you pumped in the theme parks, just be sure you have a soft-sided cooler packed with bagged ice or ice packs on hand. If your ice starts to melt, stop by any Quick-Service dining location that has an ice machine; Cast Members will be happy to give you some new ice for your cooler!

I hope this was helpful, Catherine. Please let me know if you have any other questions about traveling with (or without) your baby to the Walt Disney World Resort!
