We will be driving to WDW in Sept. With our kids (4yr&2yr) and can't decide between staying at shades of green or CBR (standard room) for the same price. Advice? Pros and cons?

Hi, Ashley!  I've stayed at Shades of Green a few times with my family, and we've had wonderful vacations with Shades of Green as our home base.  The rooms are noticeably larger, and with little ones, that may be a big plus, as it gives you room to stretch out.  It's always been very clean and the staff friendly on our stays.  There is a bus that takes you to the theme parks, and they are usually run on quite a tight schedule, which could be a pro or a con, as if you miss a bus, you might find yourself waiting a few minutes for a bus to come if you just miss one.

Some of the cons may be that you do not have access to Disney's Magical Express from the airport, so you will have to arrange your own airport transportation if you fly.  You will also have to pay to park at a Disney theme park if you take your car, which you do not have to do as a guest at a Walt Disney World resort.

You still get access to Extra Magic Hours through Shades of Green, and if you purchase items in the theme park, you can have them sent to the resort so you don't have to carry them with you.  There are several reasonably priced and quite good dining options available at Shades of Green.

The thing I hear from others who have stayed at Shades of Green, especially with young children, is that you lose some of the Disney theme when it comes to a resort.  It's definitely a more generic type of resort.

Whichever you choose, I hope your family has a great vacation!
