Were going down the end of August staying at PORAB,question, is it worth it to get the waterview rooms, it will run about $140 extra? Will i automatically overlook the parking lot it i dont. do all of the 2nd floor rooms have balconies regardless?

    Hi!

Congratulations on your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World! I love the moderate resorts at WDW as they are a great value for your money. Moderate resorts such as Port Orleans Riverside do not have room balconies nor patios. These are exterior corridor buildings.

Therefore, I've never paid extra at a moderate resort for a "better" view. Even if you do face a parking lot, there is usually landscaping between your window and the actual lot.

There is very little time at WDW to sit in your room and enjoy the view. The view may be more important to guests that plan to spend a lot of time at their resort. But again, without a balcony, you are likely to have your curtains closed most of the time that you are in your room. The door will open right onto the exterior hallway.

I assure you that standard views do not automatically look out at parking lots. For example, at a recent stay at Port Orleans Riverside in the Alligator Bayou section, our family had a standard view that looked out onto a lovely courtyard with beautiful foliage.

We've had standard views at Port Orleans French Quarter that looked out at charming courtyards or trees (with the parking lot hidden behind them).

At Caribbean Beach Resort, we've had standard views that look out onto courtyards with paradise-like settings.

And during stays at Coronado Springs, we've looked out at courtyards or treed areas with the parking lot in hidden in the distance.

Since people are often walking by your room, it's not likely that you would sit in your room with the curtains open staring out at the view for much longer than to enjoy a rest or quick meal at your table.

I'd use the extra money for a special meal, souvenir or activity.

    Enjoy!
