If I don't like my resort or room, will Disney move my family if I pay the difference? We're staying at POR in the Royal Rooms, but we're afraid the kids won't like the resort. We're thinking about AOA once we arrive.

    Hi Shawn,

Thank you for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your vacation planning question.  The answer to your question is somewhat complicated.  Overall I have to say it's possible, but you should not expect having availability at another Resort hotel.  Depending upon how you booked your room, you may have some stipulations on what may occur after your vacation has begun.  For example if you have taken advantage of a "Special Offer" your choice of new Resort hotels may not be included.  Additionally there are many times in which there are no vacancies for the length of your trip at another Resort hotel and therefore Disney's Art of Animation Resort hotel may not be available at the last minute.

Since your worry is about preferences and whether Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside will appeal to your kids my advice is to include them on this decision well in advance of your vacation so you will not be disappointed nor waste any time checking for availability and/or transferring Resort hotels once you arrive.  For what it is worth, I have four children of my own and my family has stayed in both of these Resort hotels.  I just explained your question to my children and they gave the following advice:
    • Both of these places are super cool - just "different" cool for each place
    • Royal Rooms are the bomb and the Resort makes you feel like you are in a far away place
    • Art of Animation is totally fun and little children really love this place
Shawn I do not think you will be disappointed with either decision you make.  Honestly it would be a difficult decision for me as well since both of these Resorts are unique for different reasons.

Have a Magical vacation and please let us know if you have any further Disney vacation planning questions!

    Blessings,
