We are doing 2 days at Magic Kingdom. This is a first trip for DD8 and DS6. Do you have suggestions on special things we can do to make trip more special - it's a surprise?

    Dear Anissa,

You are in for the vacation of a lifetime with your children!  They are at a lovely age to enjoy the Magic Kingdom.  My son was five when we took him for his first trip to the Magic Kingdom and we will always treasure the special memories we made with him on that vacation.

I highly recommend that you arrive 20 minutes before rope drop on your first day in the Magic Kingdom.  Your family will get to witness a lovely opening ceremony at the train station.  It's a delightful way to kick off your experience in this theme park.  Be sure to schedule a character dining experience on one of the days of your visit.  The Crystal Palace is a fun option for children the age of your son and daughter.  You could also leave the Magic Kingdom briefly by monorail to enjoy a meal at Chef Mickey's in Disney's Contemporary Resort.  Be sure to bring autograph books, pens, and your camera to this type of dining experience as it is an unparalleled opportunity for your kids to interact with the Disney characters.  Don't forget to call (407) WDW-DINE up to 180 days in advance of your visit to book dining reservations as these experiences are immensely popular.

If you really want your son and daughter to feel like a part of the magic, book a princess makeover for your daughter at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique in Cinderella Castle.  (Call 407-WDW-STYLE to do so).  Meanwhile, your son can be transformed into a pirate at the Pirates League.  Reservations can be made by calling (407) WDW-CREW.

Best wishes to you as you plan your children's first trip to the Magic Kingdom!
