We'll be in DisneyWorld this May . Arriving @ 2 pm and got reservations at 2:30 at Chef Mickeys. I was trying to reserve for later times for that day but to no avail. Will they still hold the table for us if we are late and for how long?

    Hi, Jo!

Since 2:30 p.m. is the final seating time for Chef Mickey's (considered "brunch" hours") I think I would probably cancel this reservation as there is simply no way you will make it from the airport to your resort to Chef Mickey's in 30 minutes. The next seating is usually around 5:00 p.m. for dinner.

Remember, too, that this is a vacation. You certainly do not want to start it off by rushing and worrying.  I would cancel the current reservation and keep checking back (even day-of) to see if there is a cancelation that you can take advantage of.

If you cannot secure another reservation for Chef Mickey's for that night, I am guessing you still want to do something fun for your first night in Walt Disney World, and also guessing you do not want to enter a theme park. Here are some fun dining locations that are outside the parks that you might check on availability:

-Whispering Canyon Café at Wilderness Lodge
-Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at the Beach Club
-'Ohana at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
-Mickey's Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness

Other than Mickey's Backyard BBQ, these locations will not have characters, but are fun locations for the entire family.  I hope you find a restaurant that has availability (I would book 5:00 p.m. or later) and starts off your vacation with pixie dust and magic!
