Hi! We will be going to Disneyland [mom, me (27), and niece (15)], for the first time since I was 8. Is there an age appropriate Character Dining that does not include princesses but maybe Micky and Donald? Are there meal plans for DL?

    Hi, Kristin!

Enjoying a character meal is a great way for Guests of all ages to get one-on-one time with several Disney characters! There is generally not a set list of characters that can be found at each Disneyland Resort restaurant, and it makes for some fun surprises. The only character you’re guaranteed to see at each meal is the one whose name is featured in the title. At the character meals at Storyteller’s Café, you’ll often find Chip and Dale and other woodland characters like Brother Bear and Winnie the Pooh. On our most recent visit to Goofy’s Kitchen, we met a diverse group of characters like Pluto, Pocahontas, Rafiki, Goofy and Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother.

The Disneyland Resort’s dining plans consist of meal vouchers that are redeemable for meals at select restaurants. The plans are based on a pre-paid voucher system that is really designed more for convenience than money savings. Two dining plans are currently offered with a Disneyland Resort vacation package. The Character Dining Plan includes one meal per person—a maximum $33 value per adult (ages 10 and up) and $17 per child (ages 3 to 9)—redeemable at Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park at the Plaza Inn, Surf's Up! Breakfast with Mickey & Friends at Disney's PCH Grill, or Chip 'n Dale's Critter Breakfast at Storytellers Café. The Premium Character Dining Plan includes one lunch per person—a $45 value per adult (ages 10 and up) and $22 per child (ages 3 to 9)—redeemable at Ariel's Disney Princess Celebration at Ariel's Grotto or Goofy's Kitchen.

If you plan to enjoy any table-service or character dining meals during your vacation, I recommend you make reservations up to 60 days in advance online or by calling (714) 781-DINE (3463). Please don’t hesitate to stop by again with more questions, Kristin.

    Wishing you magic,
