    For the Disneyland Half Marathon, there is a pacing requirement of 16 minutes per mile. Is that an average or if once you hit 16 minutes and you have not completed a mile you are removed from the course?

    Hi Nicholas! 

    The 16 minute/mile pace is an average over the entire course.  Once the very last person has crossed the starting line, they have "pacers" that ride along at the 16 minute/mile pace.  (they are often called "sweepers" as sometimes they have to sweep people off the course)

    Since they start at the very end, the further you start ahead of them will actually give you extra time.  Even if you start in the last wave of runners, if you position yourself at the very front of that wave, you will be thousands of people ahead of the pacers. 

    I generally advise people to train at at least a 15 minute/mile pace.  That way you KNOW you can do it, and it will give some extra time to enjoy being at Disney and to take in all of the fun entertainment on the course.
