Going to Disneyland Dec 5th - 10th. Wondering what the crowds are like this time of year? Will any rides be closed? What places are a must for photos decoration wise?

    Hi, Ashleigh!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thanks for your great questions. Early December is a wonderful time to visit the Disneyland Resort because crowds aren't usually too heavy, but all of the seasonal extras are in full swing. By mid-December, park attendance typically begins to pick up, and crowds are the heaviest by the week of Christmas.

It’s a great idea to do some advance planning before leaving home so you can make the most of your time in the parks. Be sure to take advantage of Disney’s FASTPASS service when available so you can spend less time waiting in line and more time enjoying the theme parks. A current list of scheduled attraction closures is always listed online at Disneyland.com, so you may want to check as your visit approaches. As of now, it looks like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Casey Jr. Circus Train and Storybook Land Canal Boats will be closed for refurbishment in December, but keep in mind that closures are always subject to change.

You won’t want to miss the Haunted Mansion Holiday and “it’s a small world” Holiday attractions, and Sleeping Beauty Castle looks the most regal when decked out for the holidays. Another great photo opportunity is in front of the giant Christmas tree perched at the beginning of Main Street, U.S.A. It is 60 feet tall, decorated with more than 1,800 ornaments and glistening with 70,000 lights!

I hope this information is helpful, Ashleigh. Please write back with more questions as you continue to plan your pixie-dusted holiday vacation!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
