Hello! We are going to Disneyland for Christmas! We want to go to Disneyland Park on Christmas Day! How hard is it to get in (we are planning on being at the gates 1.5-2 hours before opening) and do we have to have a special ticket for that day?

    Hi there, Marjorie!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I just love helping other New Mexican families plan trips to the Happiest Place on Earth!

Spending Christmas Day at Disneyland Park sounds practically perfect in every way. Nothing is more festive than walking down Main Street, U.S.A. during the Christmas season. Throughout all times of the day you can really feel the Christmas spirit as you admire the giant Christmas tree, decorative Mickey garland, and of course Sleeping Beauty's Winter Castle. Most holidays are a popular time to visit the Disneyland Resort, and Christmas is no exception. Arriving early is a great plan! I'd grab a coffee from Starbucks in the Downtown Disney District and plan to line up at least one hour before park opening. This will help you stay ahead of the morning rush on this busy day. Make sure you purchase your tickets online before you leave to also skip the ticket booths when you arrive. You will not need a special ticket for the holiday, but keep in mind that if you are using a 1-day ticket, these differ in price by day. Multi-day tickets will be the same price even if they fall on the holiday.

Apart from arriving early, my next piece of advice is to add Disney MaxPass to your ticket at time of purchase or as soon as you enter the park gates. You can easily do this after you arrive and link your ticket to the Disneyland app. This will help you limit time in attraction lines and maximize your experiences each day by allowing you to make digital Disney FASTPASS selections from your mobile device. You can also cherish your Christmas memories with included unlimited Disney PhotoPass downloads as a part of Disney MaxPass.

I hope this helps, and have a holly jolly holiday vacation!
