We are going to be at Disneyland on it's birthday, July 17th 2013. Will they be doing anything special to celebrate?

    Hi, Nicole!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! It’s hard to believe it has been nearly 58 years since the opening day of Disneyland Park, when Walt Disney welcomed the first visitors with those now-iconic words:  “To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land.”

I remember visiting in 2005 when “The Happiest Homecoming on Earth” paid tribute to the theme park’s 50th anniversary. Although 2013 isn’t a milestone anniversary year, the special occasion will still be recognized in some way on July 17, as it is every year. Two years ago, Guests who visited “The Happiest Place on Earth” on July 17 heard an audio recording of Walt’s original dedication speech throughout the park. Last year, Mickey and Minnie Mouse and other Disney characters—with balloons in hand— joined Cast Members and Guests in Town Square to sing “Happy Birthday To You” to Disneyland Park!

Plans for this year’s anniversary haven’t been announced yet, but there’s sure to be a little something special that day to commemorate 58 years of memories at the theme park that started it all! With this being the year of “Limited Time Magic” at Disney Parks, there’s no telling what last-minute surprise might pop up! Be sure to keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog as your trip approaches for the latest news and announcements, Nicole.

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
