    Jennifer from TN Asked

We are going to Disney World in Sept. for 10 days. We are driving our car down there. Is it quicker and easier to drive our car to the parks and resorts or would it be better to use the bus to get around Disney?

We recently drove from TN to Walt Disney World!

We have always found that having a car (our own or a rental) is a huge time-saver at Walt Disney World.

Although I don't know where you are staying, I can give you some general rules for when to drive and when to leave the car in your resort parking lot. Okay, basically I suggest that you drive but here's the tips anyhow:

1 - Drive your car. Standing room only buses at the end of the night are extremely tiresome after a long day in the parks. I would caution that buses can also be crowded in the morning which can make your commute less than magical. We drive in the morning and park at the Transportation and Ticket Center (Magic Kingdom's parking lot), so that we can arrive the Magic Kingdom by monorail or ferry boat. Both are a more relaxing option than the bus.

2 - Drive to the Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Since you are able to walk to the parking lots (or take a tram), there is no chaotic departure at closing time.

3 - Take your resort transportation to Downtown Disney. The parking at Downtown Disney is almost always crowded!

4 - Unless your resort offers transportation by boat to a different resort (Wilderness Lodge to the Contemporary, for example), drive to the resort that you will be visiting for shopping and/or dining.

Which option is better - driving your car or Disney transportation - actually depends on what is most important to your family. Do you want to leave the driving to Disney? Do you prefer to save time?

Also, families may want to consider that traveling with a stroller and other items is much easier with their own vehicle.
