We are going to Disney World in October. We have the Disney dining Plan for 5 days. We plan to do character dining for our main meals. What would be 3 good character meals for a 5 year old girl and make the most of the dining plan?

    Angie:

Booking dinners usually gets you the most value out of the Dining Plan, but see my thoughts below on a scenario that is the exception. Overall, rest in the fact that the dining plan for a child provides a nice discount to paying out-of-pocket.

    • Chef Mickey's: This meal will allow you to see all of the "Fab 5" at one time and offer a memorable experience with ample time to take pictures with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and Donald Duck. I like to recommend it on the night you arrive so that you can get some of the "must-do" meet-and-greets out of the way before you visit the parks.
    • Akershus: You'll get to experience more than just one princess at this meal with Belle, Aurora, Ariel, and Snow White usually in the rotation. Your credit card will be charged in advance for the meal but when you present your MagicBand with your Disney Dining Plan at dinner, you will be refunded your pre-paid dinners and your Disney Dining Plan will cover it. The hassle of keeping up with the refund is easily more doable than the lines you'll have to wait in to see the princesses in the parks. Best of all, you'll save your FastPass+ selections for coveted experiences like the Festival of Fantasy parade and rides like Toy Story Mania.
    • Tie between Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Fare and Hollywood & Vine: My third choice for your last Character Meal depends on where your daughter's interests lie: is she familiar with Winnie the Pooh? Then choose Crystal Palace and get the earliest breakfast time you can (preferably 8:05 a.m.) so you can enter the Magic Kingdom before the crowds and take some great pictures. Would you like some comedy relief while she enjoys a princess meet-and-greet? Then book 1900 Park Fare where the Wicked Stepmother and Stepsisters who outshine Cinderella and the Prince. Is your daughter more of a Pixar fan of Princess Sophia? Then Hollywood & Vine for lunch is my pick.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
