In Disney World in May with our 5yr. son- I was curious about the kids night out/kids programs they have at select resorts that are available until 12:30am (?) I am very nervous about doing this, but would love to have an evening @ downtown Disney.

Hi, Julie! Oh, please don't worry...let me give you some information so that you can make a good decision for your family.  The kids programs and services at WDW basically fall under three categories:

    1. The Children's Activity Centers - which are located at select deluxe resorts and which are usually open around 4-4:30 until midnight - are fantastic play spaces full of all kinds of activities, events and even include snacks and dinner.  You can visit the centers after you've arrived or check with your resort's concierge. Most kids are usually disappointed to see the fun end when the grown-ups arrive!

    2.  Independent child care provider, Kids Nite Out, teams up with WDW resorts to provide one-on-one, in-room sitting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They can be contacted  at 407-828-0920 for more information on staff and pricing. I've had several friends who have used this service and rave about their experiences.

    3.  Lastly, there are special experiences for children such as a tea party (usually held in the afternoons at the Grand Floridian) or pirate adventures (morning events held at several WDW resorts with waterway access). You can get more information about these activities and make reservations by calling 407-WDW-DINE.

Each of these programs are an additional cost and are wonderful ways to entertain and care for your children as you simultaneously enjoy other grown-up activities. The quality of child care providers as well as activities and entertainment is on par with what you expect from Disney quality.  If you have more questions, I'd love to help you, and I hope this has helped to alleviate some of your concerns. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!
