We are going to Disney World in Feb (Dh, DS6, DD3). Many of our dinning picks only have 8-9pm sitting available. Though the kids are troopers and very good I feel this amy be too late even for them. Do we suck it up for the experience? Any suggestions?

Hi ToniAnn! Only one month away until you are at the most magical place on earth! I bet your kids are getting excited!

My kids are around the same age as yours and we had the same dilemma. Several of the reservations we wanted were not available until late at night and our kids are typically in bed by 8:00 on school nights!

One night we had a reservation for California Grill for 9:00 p.m. so we could see the fireworks during dinner. Both of the kids fell asleep at the table and my husband and I ended up bringing the food back to the room.

You don't want that to happen, but I do have a couple of suggestions:

    1. On the days that you have a late night reservation, take a break in the middle of the day or make it a half-day in the parks. One night we had a reservation at 8:30 p.m. at Tony's Town Square in Magic Kingdom, so we slept in a bit, took the kids to the pool at the resort in the morning and headed over to Magic Kingdom in the afternoon. Everyone had plenty of energy and enjoyed dinner and the fireworks.

    2. Make a date night! Many of the Walt Disney World resorts offer in-room childcare so you can enjoy a night out with your husband while your kids get much needed rest. Many resorts also offer childcare services, such as the Sandcastle Club at The Beach Club Resort.

    3. Order room service or a pizza in your room for nights that you want to get the kids to bed early. My kids love being able to eat in bed in their PJs during vacation!

Also, continue to call the dining reservations line back to check availability. A better timeslot can always open up closer to your date of arrival.

I hope you have a magical stay!
    Magically,
    Stacy
