We have never been to Disney World, only Disneyland. We are a family of 6 and I am trying to start planning our days so I can make dining reservations. Are certain parks busier than others certain days? Trying to make the most of our trip. THANKS!!!

Hey there Jenny, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

To borrow an old saying, I think a day at Walt Disney World is better than a day anywhere else. And if you want to make the most of your Disney days, a little planning is definitely in order.

The overall crowd levels you can expect will of course depend on the time of year you plan to go, with January and September usually the lowest, and the weeks around Easter and Christmas/New Year's the highest. You'll also see increased crowds around long weekends like Martin Luther King, Jr. Day or Presidents Day.

No matter when you visit, you can pretty much count on Saturday generally being the busiest day at the Magic Kingdom Park, due in large part to local residents (like me!) dropping in for a day trip. Another variable to watch out for is the availability of Extra Magic Hours, when a certain Park will be open an hour early or a couple of hours late for Guests of Walt Disney World Resort hotels, which can draw more people to that particular Park.

One way to gauge crowd levels for specific days during your visit is to check out one of the crowd calendars you can find online. A couple of the most popular are Touring Plans and EasyWDW. Some of these are free, others charge a subscription. Any of them can help plan your visit down to the minute if you like. If nothing else, you'll get a snapshot of what each day will look like.

I hope this helps with your planning, Jenny. Wishing you a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
