We will be going to Disney World in August 2018, we have a very large party and are not staying at the resorts. We will be staying offsite. When should we purchase our tickets and are we able to get any group discount deals? Their are 22 of us going.

Welcome Jessica, and thank you for your question. When my whole family travels to Walt Disney World together, we are a party of 14, and I just love the energy, excitement, and love that flow through a big group when they’re in the middle of the magic.

In terms of timing, be sure to purchase your tickets and link them to everyone’s My Disney Experience profiles before 30 days before your first park day, as that is when your FastPass+ reservation window will open. My dear friend Andrea W. has great advice on setting that up and making those selections for a large group.

Disney offers group discounts for those booking 10 or more rooms at one of their resorts, so I suggest checking with your offsite hotel to see if they offer anything similar. There are some reputable third-party ticket agents who sell discounted theme park tickets, but please be careful as there are scams out there; if you go with a third-party seller, check conditions carefully and look for things like blackout dates before you buy. If you choose to book through Disney, check the Special Offers page for options like military discounted tickets. To purchase tickets, you may either call their Ticketing Group at (407) 566-4985 or purchase on their website.

Jessica, please come back and see us if you have any further questions as you plan for your great big, beautiful group. My favorite tip when you’re in a big group? Matching t-shirts! They make for great photos, are awesome souvenirs, AND they make it really easy to spot each other…especially if the shirts are neon-colored!

Wishing you and your whole group a magical vacation,
    Robyn
