We are going on the Disney Wonder to Alaska in June. It is our first cruise. It appears the weather will be anywhere from cold to a little warm. Is swimming possible? I have two kids that are excited about the pool but am concerned it will be too cold.

    Hi, Teri!

Congratulations on your upcoming cruise this summer aboard the Disney Wonder to Alaska! It's going to be a fantastic voyage for you and your family, and I'm actually planning this trip for my family, too!

Since Disney Cruise Line will sail its first itinerary to Alaska next month, I'm getting my questions answered, and I'll pass on to you what I've learned. First of all, the temperatures are going to vary considerably during the course of the cruise. You'll want to pack light, summer clothing for the time you will spend in Vancouver, and layers for the cruise.  When the sun is not out, it will be chilly on deck, but during the day, the water temperatures in the pool will be toasty warm. So, we are definitely bringing our swimsuits -- if anything, to enjoy the hot tubs and the spa amenities.

Also, remember to pack sensible, water-resistant shoes for exploring at the ports, and you'll want to make sure you have a rain jacket, too. From all my sources, layering will be the key to enjoying the wide array of temperatures we'll experience throughout our days in Alaska. I don't know about you and yours...but we're so excited we can hardly stand it! I hope I've helped you plan.

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
