When is Disney planning to give the free dining for the next holiday season as well as the new year 2018? Also, we just got back and are stating to plan for quiet time at Disney as we have children with special needs..... so is November or January best?

    Hi Damaris,

I love starting to plan my next Disney vacation right when I return from one. It is a way to always have something to look forward to!

As you know, Walt Disney World puts out special offers for guests. While there are many types of offers that come out, including room discounts and included dining plans, there is never a guarantee that because an offer was given in the past that it will be again in the future. This year, the special offer with an included dining plan was released in the spring and was available for select dates in August through December. My best advice for this is to check back to the special offer page that I linked often to see if there are any offers that will work for you and your family.

As to less busy times of year to visit Walt Disney World, November and January are both good options. You mention that you just got back from a Walt Disney World trip, so I should say that late August and early September are also less busy times of year, so what you just experienced is probably one of the lower crowd times at Walt Disney World. To continue with these less busy times at Walt Disney World, try to avoid major holidays when children are out of school if possible. For example, if you want to travel in November, I would expect smaller crowds in early November. Right around Thanksgiving will likely be quite popular as a time to travel to Walt Disney World. In January, I would avoid the beginning of the month when many are celebrating the New Year. The further you go into January, the less crowded it should be.

Also, do not forget to use tools such as Disney's FastPass+ system and arriving at the theme parks early to help mitigate crowds.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Damaris. Please do let us know if you have any further questions!
