Going to Disney in November. There is lots of talk about buying my tickets ahead of time. Why? And if I don’t and decide to buy when I get there.... what’s the difference?

    Hi Jennifer,

I am happy to help you with your question about Walt Disney World tickets!

I agree with the talk that you are hearing about purchasing your Walt Disney World tickets ahead of time. The main reason, I think, to do this is that you need to have your tickets purchased in order to make Disney FastPass+ selections. Making these selections will allow you to choose up to three attractions to experience with shorter wait times for each day of your vacation. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel, you can make these selections 60 days ahead of your check-in date. If you are not staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel, you can make them 30 days before you visit. You can also make Disney FastPass+ selections once you arrive at a theme park; however, I find it helpful to do so ahead of time so I can choose the times of day and attractions that I want the most.

In order to take advantage of Disney FastPass+ service, you do need to set up a My Disney Experience account and be sure that your tickets are linked to it.

The other reason to purchase your Walt Disney World tickets ahead of time is simply that it is a time saver. You will have already considered which tickets to purchase, and will not have to spend time contemplating this at a ticket window once you have arrived at Walt Disney World. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel, you will receive your MagicBands with your tickets attached ahead of time and will be ready to head right into a theme park when you arrive.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Jennifer! Let us know if you have any further questions.
