We will be at Disney May 21-27, 2011. My son is beside himself w/ excitement for the Jedi Training and all things StarWars. Is the Jedi Training held each day or just during StarWars weekends? Also I need info on the "build your own lightsaber"

    Hi Sabrina,

The Jedi Training Academy (JTA) at Disney's Hollywood Studios (DHS) is out of this world fun for kids! It is held several times a day and takes place throughout the year. Guests between the ages of 4 and 12 are invited to participate in the JTA.  After completing their training, each participant "battles" Darth Vader. The times will be listed on your Times Guide that you pick up along with your Guide Map when you enter DHS. The number of participants is limited and they start registration first thing in the morning and stop once the spots are filled for the day (they usually fill up fast during peak seasons).  If this is something your son wants to participate in, head that way first. He will need to be present with you to register. They will ask him a couple of questions to make sure he can follow some basic directions.

A  PhotoPass Photographer takes shots of all of the participants. Afterwards, be sure to stop by so that he/she can give you a slip of paper with instructions on how to get those pictures added to your Disney PhotoPass.

Tatooine Traders located next to the Star Tours attraction carries some great Star Wars merchandise & your son can build his own lightsaber there. He can also do this at Once Upon A Toy located at Downtown Disney. I recently did this with one of my sons. There are several steps & each step has more than one choice for the part you need so when you've finished, you will have a one of a kind lightsaber. The steps are illustrated along the way & Cast Members are near by if you need assistance. Your son can build a single or double lightsaber. We had a lot of fun working together & I know you will too.

Wishing you many magical memories :-) Allison
