Hi! We are going to Disney in May and I need to make our fast pass selections tomorrow! I was wondering if it is better to use the fast pass for the actual rides or the character meet and greet? Thank you

    Hi Sonja,

The answer to your question really depends on your family's personal priorities, what time you're arriving at the park, and which rides and character greetings you're talking about.

First of all, let me say that if one of the character greetings you're interested in is the Frozen meet & greet with Anna & Elsa, then that should be your #1 FastPass+ priority. Currently, that seems to be the most line-intensive attraction in all of Walt Disney World.

When my kids were smaller, they LOVED meeting characters, often more than the rides. We made character seeking our priority during many trips. However, other than Frozen, sometimes Mickey, and sometimes the other princesses, the lines for character greetings can be quite short.

Also, you're likely to find almost all the ride lines short during the first 2-3 hours of park opening. You shouldn't need to use any FP+ during that time.

The really wonderful thing about FP+ is that it's flexible. You can change your reservation during your trip. For example, on one recent visit, I had a FP+ reservation for Space Mountain. When I got to the attraction, I saw that the wait time was only 15 minutes. I decided not to "waste" my FP+ on this relatively short wait, so while I was in line I used my iPhone to change my Space Mountain FP+ into a Peter Pan FP+ later in the day. It took only about a minute to do this and was easy peasy.

So, overall, I'd use FP+ on the Frozen meet & greet first (if that's something you'd like to do). Then use your remaining FP+ on your next most important greetings or rides later in the day, but feel free to change them if you find that the waits are not long.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know what else we can do to help.
