Can you use a Disney gift card for tips besides restaurants like the shuttle from the hotel and the maid at the hotel?

Hello Rhonda!  Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I use Disney Gift Cards for purchasing many things while on a Walt Disney World Resort Vacation.  The convenience of handling a Disney Gift Card in lieu of American money(I'm Canadian) is extremely helpful and there are only a few instances where I find myself needing cash when I have a trusty Disney Gift Card in tow.

Unfortunately Rhonda, 2 of the instances where I have used cash are when tipping for baggage handling when riding Disney's Magical Express and when leaving a tip for our hardworking Mousekeepers.

For Disney's Magical Express, there is simply no means that drivers of the motorcoaches currently have at their disposal to scan for the tip to be processed.  I usually grab a coffee or much-needed treat from Orlando International Airport to ensure that I have a few dollars for said tip.

As far a tips for Mousekeeping, my family usually makes a stand-up card that we slip a few dollars into that indicates it is a tip in thanks for cleaning up after our messy selves while in vacation mode. In the instances that I have forgotten to leave the tip, I have left a tip with Guest Services at the Front Desk in an envelope.

Guest Services may be able to scan a Disney Gift Card for the purpose of leaving a tip in this manner, but it is far more effort than simply leaving the money directly for your Mousekeeper.

Other than those 2 examples, the only other Disney-operated locations where I have been unable to process Disney Gift Cards are carts or other outdoor merchandise vendors where they did not have the means to process the cards.

    Happy Swiping!
