If I use a Disney gift card to pay for my meal at a sit down restaurant and then leave a tip on the gift card will it come out right away or will it take a few days?

Hey, Katie! Thanks for bringing us another great question! I am so glad Samantha was able to give you some great information about using Disney Gift Cards during your chat with her. Since we prefer not to travel with a lot of cash, I usually stop by one of my local stores and pick up Disney Gift Cards to use during our trips. I appreciate that we can store them to my account on its website and consolidate cards if needed. If you happen to misplace your Disney Gift Card (been there, done that!), all you need to do is pick up another card, or use any spare one you may have, to transfer the balance of the lost card to the other card. I usually keep several spare Disney Gift Cards around for this reason!

The majority of Table Service dining locations do accept Disney Gift Cards. You are welcome to leave tips with your cards. In my experience, the total amount, including tip, is deducted from the card's balance as soon as the Cast Member logs it into the system. You could ask the Cast Member to go ahead and run the final receipt with the tip added so you can keep up with your balance. Just look at the bottom of that receipt and it will show you the remaining balance on your Disney Gift Card. If you are in a hurry, maybe to use your next FastPass+ selection, then just keep in mind for a bit what your balance should be after the total cost of the meal and tip are included. If you have stored the card on your account, then you can hop on the Disney Gift Card website before its next use to double check that it was taken off before your next use of the card.

Thanks again for stopping by with your question today! Please let us know if you have any other questions as you continue to plan your pixie-dusted adventures!
