I am going to disney for the first time with my husband and my 6,4,and8 month old sons.....will the dining plan benefit us or do u think eating breakfast and lunch at hotel would be smart so kids can get a midday break?

    Hi, Amy!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Congratulations on planning your first visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth! From the information you sent, it looks like you'll be arriving in just a few weeks at the end of this month. I'm sure your family is very excited and counting down the days!

I have visited Walt Disney World both with and without the Dining Plan. You may want to consider adding the Quick Service (QS) Dining Plan for your upcoming trip, provided you use it diligently and don't skip even one meal; otherwise, any value will be lost since unused credits are not refundable. The QS Plan includes two QS meal credits and one snack credit per person (age 3 and over) per night plus a refillable drink mug. Due to your time frame, I would recommend against adding the Basic Dining Plan (1 Table Service + 1 QS + 1 snack per night) simply because, at just 3 weeks out from your arrival date, you are not likely to secure reservations at the more popular sit-down restaurants and character dining locations.

It's important to know that dining plans can only be added to certain Magic Your Way Vacation Packages which include a Resort hotel stay and theme park tickets. The Dining Plan must be added at least 72 hours (3 days) prior to your arrival; it cannot be added at time of check-in at your resort. Also, all guests age 3 and over on the reservation must be on the same package.

I am a big proponent of taking a midday break back at your resort! Considering the ages of your little guys, I would definitely recommend returning to your resort for lunch at the food court, some pool time, and even a nice nap. Some free time at your resort is a great way to recharge your family's batteries.

I hope this helps! Wishing you a magical vacation, Amy! Please write back with any other questions before your trip.
