We are going to Disney for the first time during summer vacation (usually go in Sept but son in HS now). We are arriving on 8/17 and staying 9 days with park hoppers. What would be a good schedule of parks to visit? We have two kids ages 9 & 15.

    Hi Sandra,

You are going to Walt Disney World late in summer vacation. It will likely be more crowded than you are used to in September; however, many schools will already be back in session which will keep the crowds a bit lower than they are in June or July.

For nine days with Park Hopper Tickets, you can take your time and visit each park in a relaxed manner. Many people really enjoy Disney's Hollywood Studios with older children and teenagers, as it has thrill rides such as Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Your children also may be getting to the age where they can really appreciate a stroll around the World Showcase at Epcot, stopping occasionally for a bite to eat. I would suggest working a water park into your schedule - many older children love the thrills and sun at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Disney's Blizzard Beach.

I suggest going to a water park early in the week, maybe Monday or Tuesday, as they tend to be less crowded then. For the rest of the schedule, I suggest consulting touringplans.com for a prediction of what parks will be most crowded on what days, and then you can plan your days in the parks to go against the crowds. A
lso, check the Walt Disney World calendar for a schedule of park hours including Extra Magic Hours. Extra Magic Hours are a perk for Walt Disney World Resort guests which allow you early entrance or to stay late in a particular park on certain days. Although your children are at an age when they might want to sleep in, you might want to check which days have evening Extra Magic Hours and take advantage of those. Only guests staying on Walt Disney World Resort property can use Extra Magic Hours.

I hope that these suggestions help you to schedule your trip, Sandra.
