    Jessica Asked

We will be on the Disney Dream in Oct. I have started picking up Disney Gift Cards to add to our onboard acct, but what happens if we dont use all of it? Does it get refunded as gift cards? Its our first cruise so Im guessing on how much to bring! Thanks!

Welcome aboard Jessica! It's funny you ask this because I just disembarked the Magic yesterday morning after an amazing 6-night sailing, and I had a refund due on my gift cards as well.

You're smart to buy a few Disney gift cards here and there to add to your onboard account. We like to get them at our grocery store that offers double or triple fuel rewards on gift cards so we save money when we fill up the car too!

Once you're onboard, go to Guest Services with your gift cards and they will add each one as a credit on your stateroom account. The final morning (or you can ask for it the night before), you'll receive your statement showing your charges on your account. It will show if you owe an additional amount that will be charged to your credit card, or if you are owed a refund. If that is the case, they will put the overage back onto one of your gift cards. So, be sure to save the gift cards even after you have them added to the account. This way, you have them available to have a refund issued to one if you are due that.

It's always nice to know you had set aside more Disney dollars than you really needed, isn't it? Then what do you do with those? Save them for your next Disney cruise, of course!

    Happy planning, Jessica!
