we are going on the disney dream in December 2012. My husband has celiac which makes it interesting when we travel. What types of products are available for gluten free eaters to ensure a more enjoyable experience?

    Hi, Tania!

Disney Cruise Line - as with all Disney vacation opportunities - has loads of experience catering to Guests with all kinds of special medical and non-medical dietary requirements. Rest assured that your DCL team will work with you prior to and aboard your cruise.

Rather than providing you with a list of menu items - an extensive one, to be sure, since menu items are subject to change depending on the season, market value and availability of items, Guest demand, etc. - , I can offer you and your husband a few tips to ensure that your needs are met.

Due to the number of meals the kitchen much prepare each day, you'll want to notify Disney of food allergies as soon as possible.

At least three weeks before departing, supply Disney Cruise Line with your Special Services Information Form.

Immediately upon embarkation, arrange to meet with your head server to review menus. You can also request a meeting with one of the chefs.

When your husband enjoys one of the many buffets, he will do so at his own discretion. Although DCL can supply a list of ingredients for any item, it is impossible to guarantee that another Guest has not inadvertently contaminated that item. In lieu of eating from buffets, the chefs will be happy to prepare food in the kitchen. Please be aware that these menu items are made to order, and will take additional time.

I can tell you that, readily available, you'll find all kinds of gluten-free options by themselves (meats, eggs, dairy items, fruits, vegetables, plus gluten-free pastas, pizzas, and cake by request). And with advanced preparation, your husband and the kitchen team on your ship will ensure that you all have a magical, safe, and delicious vacation.

    Bon voyage!

    See you later, celebrator,
    -Deborah B.
