We are going on our 3rd Disney cruise. My son will be 10 yrs and 9 months old. He is a 5th grader, just a young one. He has been in the Oceaneer Club/Lab on this same ship 2 times before. He is more geared for Edge. Can you confirm that he can be in Edge?

Welcome aboard, Christine! We just returned from a magical sailing aboard the Disney Wonder, and my daughter was in the same boat as your son (pun totally intended)! She loves the fun in the Oceaneer Club and Lab but, being mature for her age, she was hoping to hang out with the tweens in Edge even more. Your son will be happy to know that with signed parental permission, kids who are almost 11 can enjoy Edge as well as the Oceaneer Club and Lab. We simply stopped up to Edge during Open House on the first day onboard so we could let our daughter check out the cool space and meet the super fun counselors. They already had a list of the ten year olds, so that if any of them stopped by, they could register them easily. I had to sign a permission form for her to participate and then she was all set!

Do realize, though, that there is no parental check in/check out for kids in Edge, so you'll want to be sure you feel comfortable with that and set guidelines for your son. We arranged with our daughter that if she was done in Edge, she should either go check herself into Oceaneer Club or Lab, or head back to the stateroom. She could text us on our phones through the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App to keep in touch too, or keep a Wave Phone to call us. If your son wants to be able to come and go from the Oceaneer Club and Lab on his own too, you'll need to sign a permission form there allowing him to do so. He can always check himself in, but to leave the club and head to Edge on his own, your advance permission is required. It's easy to do that during Open House that first day in the Club and Lab too. Then he'll be all set to join in on all three clubs! My daughter adored the independence and excitement of the activities with the tweens, and I'm sure your son will too!
